Ph.D. Candidate | Department of Religious Studies, The University of Texas at Austin

I study and teach about religion, transnationalism, identity, and popular culture, with special attention to how capitalist humanitarianism defines boundaries of citizenship and belonging.

My work addresses what happens when religion doesn’t work: I’m interested in who gets left out or caught in-between, and how those individuals struggle within and against the communities that they emerge from.

I am also currently working on a photo series about totemic nostalgia. More to come as this project develops!
